“At Haemoband Surgical, we believe that improving patient care should go hand in hand with protecting our planet. Our partnership with Reforest Nation reflects that commitment, and we are incredibly proud to support an initiative that is making a lasting environmental impact. Every tree planted represents another step towards a more sustainable future, and we are delighted to play our part.”

Michael McMullan, Managing Director.

For three years now, Haemoband Surgical has partnered with Reforest Nation, Ireland’s leading native tree-planting initiative. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Today, that partnership has helped fund 2,730 native Irish trees: a living, growing contribution to the restoration of Ireland’s woodlands and biodiversity.

Why we partner with Reforest Nation

Ireland has lost the vast majority of its native forest cover. With it, much of the biodiversity that once thrived across the island has gone too. Reforest Nation was founded to reverse that trend. They plant only native Irish species, never monocultures, using accelerated growing methods that establish denser, faster-maturing, more biodiverse woodland than conventional planting.

Through our corporate tree-planting partnership, every tree Haemoband funds is planted, GPS-tagged, and tracked, with photo and video updates shared as the forest grows. It’s a model built on transparency. That matters to us as much as the planting itself. We wanted a partner whose impact we could stand behind and show our customers, not just claim.

The impact so far

Our contribution sits within Reforest Nation’s wider mission. Since 2021, they’ve planted over 5 million native trees across 15 counties in Ireland, working toward a national target of 10 million by 2030. Every tree funded through Haemoband supports that same effort: restoring hedgerows, woodland corridors, and habitats for Irish wildlife, from pollinators to birds to native mammals.

More than a cheque: getting our hands in the soil

For us, this partnership was never just about writing a cheque and letting someone else do the work. We wanted our team to be there, spade in hand, planting alongside the communities Reforest Nation works with.

This year, members of the Haemoband team took part in two planting days. On 21st March 2026, we joined a community planting day in County Wicklow. On 18th April 2026, we travelled north for the Ulster Tree Planting Day in County Tyrone, planting native species alongside local volunteers and Reforest Nation’s team.

Standing in a field with a young oak or hawthorn sapling in your hands gives you a different appreciation for what “2,730 trees” actually means. It’s a reminder that behind every figure in an ESG report is a physical, ongoing effort. Showing up matters as much as funding it.

What this means for our customers

For the distributors and clinicians we work with every day, this partnership is one part of how we try to act responsibly beyond the products we make. Environmental and social governance isn’t a box-ticking exercise for us. It’s a standing commitment we back with our funding and our time, one we intend to keep building on.

We’ll continue to share updates as our contribution to Reforest Nation grows. We’re proud to have our name attached to a genuinely native, transparent, Irish-led reforestation effort.
