We make medical devices. Most of what we talk about is what happens inside the body – tissue, healing, clinical outcomes. Not exactly the stuff of nature documentaries.
But like every company that manufactures and ships physical products, we have a carbon footprint. Packaging, logistics, supply chain — it all adds up. We’re not going to pretend otherwise.
So instead of just acknowledging it and moving on, we’ve done something about it.
Meet the Freedom Forest
We’ve partnered with Reforest Nation — an Irish rewilding movement that’s been quietly doing remarkable work — and we’ve planted hundreds of trees in the Freedom Forest, nestled beneath Sugar Loaf Mountain in Greystones, Co. Wicklow.
This isn’t a generic offset scheme. The Freedom Forest is being grown using the Miyawaki method – a planting technique that densely layers up to 27 native species together, creating a dense, self-sustaining ecosystem that:
– Grows 10x faster than a conventionally planted forest
– Absorbs 10x more carbon
– Supports 100x more biodiversity
It’s shaping up to be the largest Miyawaki-inspired forest in Europe. And it sits right next to the Glen of the Downs — one of Ireland’s last remaining ancient woodlands — strengthening its ecological connectivity and helping protect native species for generations to come.
More than just trees
The Freedom Forest is dedicated to the people of Gaza and Ukraine – a living symbol of resilience, hope, and freedom for communities facing unimaginable hardship. There’s something quietly powerful about that: real trees, in real Irish soil, growing year on year, standing for something.
We’re proud to be part of it.
Where we stand
We’re not claiming to be a zero-emissions company. We’re not there yet, and saying otherwise would be greenwash. But we believe in taking genuine steps, not publishing polished pledges. Contributing to the Freedom Forest is one of those steps.
